Greeks come together after storm
The whole east coast has been wiped away by one of the worst storms in history, Hurricane Sandy. The storm started south of Atlantic City and made it's way up the east coast. Many homes and lives were effected from this storm. In Bloomsburg, many students went home to be with their families during the storm, and classes were cancelled. Bloomsburg is looking for volunteers to help recover from the storm, and many students have been volunteering to help. Greek organizations have been coming together to help families recover. " This is such a tragedy and we really want to help. " said Lori Magowan, Alpha Sigma Tau. A lot of greeks are also coming together to help each other's families by sending canned goods, and donating clothes or anything they have. Although the storm was devastating, the greeks see it as an opportunity to come together and help the community. If you want to volunteer, you can check the Bloomsburg website and find more information.

Getting ready for spring 2013 rush
It's almost that time of year again greeks! Greek life has been starting to discuss rush for next semester, spring 2013. For anyone who doesn't know, rush is a process when rushees(usually freshman or sophomores) get to meet all the different sororities and fraternities. Different organizations start planning early for possible rush themes. Dorm storm, which is coming up in November, is when sororities go to each dorm and anyone who is interested can get information on rush. Don't know if joining a sorority or fraternity is for you? That's okay, no one ever really knows until you try it! Towards the end of the fall 2012 semester , different organizations host events for rushees to attend. Alpha Sigma Tau, one of Bloomsburg's national sororities, hosts a holiday party every December. All girls are invited and it is a great way to meet some of the sisters. Sigma Sigma Sigma, another national sorority, does a winter social for any girls interested in rush. There are many ways that greeks get ready for recruitment. It's that time of year to start planning! You can always go to greek life if you want to learn more about what rush is about.

Greeks participate in Homecoming parade!
This past Saturday, Bloomsburg's alumni made a trip back to visit their old school for one of the biggest weekends, Homecoming. Every year, there is a homecoming parade. Many people from the town participate, for example, the local football team, police, firefighters, and many more. Bloomsburg's greek life is also welcome to participate. This year, a few organizations came together to participate, as well as the greek alumni.
Alpha Sigma Tau, Tri Sigma, Delta Pi, and Beta Sigma Tau all teamed up to make a float. Theta Tau Omega and Kappa Sigma also did. There were a few other greeks that made floats. The theme this year was " superheroes " The organizations that created the floats worked very hard together. On the day of the parade, the greeks came together and walked as one. The alumni of greek organizations also came together and made a float. With the float, they created a quilt with everyones letters on it.
The parade went well and everyone had fun. " It took a lot of time and effort to create the float, which was hard at times, but it was so much fun and a great bonding experience!" said Kelley Nelson, a sister of Alpha Sigma Tau. This year was the first one in many that greeks participated in the parade. " We want to make it a tradition every year. " said Jeannie Chase, a sister of Alpha Sigma Tau.
Homecoming 2012 was a lot of fun and a great way to see alumni. The parade made it extra special.
